Family Science Night
A Family Science Night engages parents, and particularly fathers, and their children in education by providing for parent/student pairs (or small groups) to work together on hands-on, minds-on science activities. In addition, Dr Eastwell will typically perform an exciting scientific demonstration and perhaps show a short video clip. |
While up to 60 persons (e.g., 30 parent/child pairs) works well, a few more can be catered for. One possible structure is:
- 6.30 p.m. Meal (e.g., barbeque or pizza), which can provide a fundraiser. However, a meal is optional.
- 7.00 p.m. - 8.30 p.m. Program proper
In the event that families eat at home prior to the activity, the program might commence earlier. Cost: $750, plus $75 GST, for a stand-alone activity. Or, a reduced rate can apply in the event that the workstations are also used with classes engaged in the Science: The Thrill of Discovery program during usual school hours.
